Project Description

London South Bank University (LSBU) is based in Southwark near the south bank of the River Thames in London. It was named as the Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2016 and is the only university to be awarded University of the Year for Graduate Employment for two years in a row in 2018 and 2019.

Client: London South Bank University

Year: 2012

Timeframe: 5 months

Main Service: Microsoft .NET Software Development

Extra Service: Microsoft SQL Server Development, API Development, Reporting Services, Software Consultancy

London South Bank University's in-house development team had built a custom student records system using Microsoft ASP.NET and a 3rd party RESTful API framework. Requests for additional features from different departments had created a backlog of work which required an increase in experienced .NET software developers. We helped provide software development resources to update the database, API, business and UI layers to successfully deliver functional areas to the university.

One of the main projects we delivered for LSBU was the automatic generation of student result letters. We built software to run across multiple servers to process over a million rows of data and send emails to students with the correct letters detailing their results attached.

Our Microsoft .NET developers helped LSBU to provide new and essential functionality to various departments in the university providing students and staff with an improved and automated service.

  • Microsoft ASP.NET and C# web development.
  • Microsoft SQL Server database development.
  • RESTful API enhancement using 3rd party framework.
  • Offline processing of student results data (1+ million records).
  • Automated document generation and emailing to students.

What we were hired for

Extend student record system API, add new features to UI and build standalone software to create digital student result letters.
